Thanks to the Tecolote Auxiliary every firefighter of the La Madera Volunteer Fire Department has a complete set of apparel and gear to help protect them during the fighting of brush and forest fires. Before the November 5th, 2011 presentation, each firefighter paid out of pocket for this necessary and expensive equipment. It was purchased one item at a time as the volunteer could afford it. Now all firefighters have a complete set which includes: helmets, neck shrouds, goggles, headlights, smoke masks, shirts, trousers, belts, shelters, backpacks, and chest harnesses.
